Motivated Functions of Art - Art for Commercialism or Propaganda:

Art is often utilized to manipulate the audiences mood and opinions. Art that seeks to sell a product influences mood and emotion causing the audience to buy a product or service. Art that seeks to manipulate the audience to follow a particular political view, especially when it is deceptive, is a form of propaganda.

In both cases, the purpose of art is to manipulate the viewer into a particular emotional or psychological response toward a particular idea or object.
